Why I chose this costume:
When my friend reached out to me about cosplaying Aerith and Tifa together for Holmat, I just knew I had to do it! This cosplay is hard to find on the general market, so I decided to challenge my skills and make it myself.

Despite a more simple look, this cosplay was tough due to my fabric choice. I don't have a lot of experience with leather and leather-substitutes, so there was definitely a learning curve.
How I made this costume:
I started by getting myself a variety of brown leather fabrics, thankfully finding most in the clearance section, as they were pricey.

I patterned the costume myself by referencing pre-existing clothing or patterns I already had and modifying them. I used tutorials on YouTube to learn how to make flat felled seams, which I used on almost everything.

I skipped a few smaller details for the sake of time but did choose to line the vest for comfort.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, I ended up liking this cosplay a lot more than I thought! I wore it almost all weekend at HolMat just because I enjoyed it so much.

I definitely have room to work on my skills with leather fabric but I am still very proud of the outcome! I want to make her actual shirt eventually to finish off this cosplay so I can wear her again sometime.
